Heritage Club...Preserving the Mission
The YMCA of Greater Seattle is committed to strengthening the foundations of community through our focus on YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, HEALTHY LIVING and SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. Your commitment to Heritage Club membership is the strongest statement of support that a friend of the Y can make.
How Can You Become a Member?
The YMCA of Greater Seattle’s (the Y) Heritage Club is comprised of individuals who are creating opportunities for future generations of youth and families by making a gift to an endowment fund of the Y or including a gift to the Y in their will or estate plans.
Qualifying Commitments for Heritage Club Membership
- Bequest
- Charitable gift annuities
- Charitable trusts
- Retirement asset
- Life insurance
- Appreciated assets
- An outright gift of cash
Most gifts are known as “deferred gifts” or “planned gifts” meaning that the transfer of funds to the Y is deferred until a future time—usually at the death of the donor and/or other beneficiaries. A deferred gift gives the donor the immediate satisfaction of giving, can provide tax benefits, and may have a larger impact than a donor was able to realize during their lifetime.
Benefits of Membership
The Heritage Club is a way for the Y to thank and recognize donors during their lifetime for demonstrating their commitment to advancing the Y mission. Benefits include:
- Confidence that notifying the Y of your plan allows the Y to plan better for the future and ensure long-term mission advancement.
- Heritage Club events, updates, and reports about Y areas of focus that interest you.
- You and your advisor(s) can consult with Y staff to ensure the best match between your charitable intentions and the Y's needs.
