Building a Legacy for the Second Century of Camp Orkila and Camp Colman
Life Board Member Frank Pritchard and his wife, Jeanne, recently made a gift to the YMCA Camp Endowment Challenge through an irrevocable bequest. "If we can bring the Camp Orkila experience to underprivileged kids, we can make a big difference in their lives," Frank says.
Over the past century more than 100,000 campers have been positively affected by the character development, teamwork training and leadership opportunities gained during the time spent at YMCA Camp Orkila and Camp Colman.
Thanks to many thoughtful donors like Frank and Jeanne and a matching grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation a $3.75 million endowment will eliminate financial barriers to participation in summer camp and outdoor environmental education for future generations of low-income children and teens.
